Sufi Meditation

A practice of stillness, remembrance and attention

What is Sufi meditation?

In the Sufi tradition, meditation is commonly associated with muraqaba (attentive watchfulness and contemplation) and dhikr (remembrance). Its aim is to quiet the mind, awaken the heart and become more attentive and ethical in daily life.

What a typical session looks like

  1. A short introduction and setting of intention
  2. Sitting comfortably and attending to the breath
  3. Guided silent contemplation
  4. A practice of remembrance or gratitude
  5. A brief sharing circle and questions

Who can take part

Anyone can begin — no prior experience is needed. Bring comfortable clothing and an open mind. If you have any physical or mental-health condition, please consult your doctor first.
